Editorial Policy

Cryptom8 is committed to accurate, fair, and independent reporting on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. This policy describes the standards we hold ourselves to.

Accuracy

We aim to publish only what we have verified. Where a claim cannot be independently verified, we attribute it clearly to its source. Where reasonable people disagree about an interpretation of facts, we note the disagreement rather than pretending it does not exist.

Sourcing

We prefer named, on-the-record sources. We will use anonymous sources only when the information is significantly in the public interest, when the source has good reason for anonymity, and when we are confident in the source's reliability. We do not use anonymous sources to make accusations against named individuals or companies.

For technical claims about how a protocol or contract works, we prefer primary sources — the underlying code, formal documentation, or audited specifications — over secondary commentary.

Conflicts of interest

Our writers do not actively trade the cryptocurrencies they cover. They may hold small long-term positions in major assets (Bitcoin, Ethereum) for testing and reporting purposes; these are disclosed in articles where relevant.

Writers do not accept gifts, meals worth more than nominal value, or paid travel from companies they cover. We reimburse our own conference and travel expenses.

Where a writer has a personal connection to a story (a former employer, a close family member working at the company), the connection is disclosed in the byline or article footer.

Corrections

When we make a factual error, we correct it promptly and visibly. Corrections are noted at the bottom of the article, with the date and a brief description of what was changed. We do not silently update articles to remove errors.

For significant factual errors that materially change the meaning of a story, we issue a separate corrections notice in our newsletter.

Updates and revisions

For breaking news, we may update articles as new information becomes available. Significant updates are noted with a timestamp.

For evergreen guides and reference content, we periodically review and update articles to reflect changes in the underlying subject matter. The "last updated" date at the top of each article reflects the most recent substantive update.

Right of reply

Where a story makes specific factual claims about a company, project, or individual, we contact them in advance for comment, and we represent their response fairly. If a comment arrives after publication that materially changes the story, we update the article.

Separation of editorial and commercial

Editorial decisions are made by editorial staff alone. Our commercial team has no role in deciding what we cover, what we publish, or how we frame it. Sponsored content is clearly labeled and is produced separately from editorial content.

AI usage

Cryptom8's editorial content is researched and written by humans. We may use AI tools as research aids — for example, to summarize public documents we are reading, to surface candidate sources, or to assist with copy-editing. We do not publish content that is primarily generated by AI without human authorship and verification.

Sourcing of images

Images used on Cryptom8 are licensed from stock photography providers, used under Creative Commons licenses with appropriate attribution, or produced in-house. We do not pass off others' work as our own.

Hate speech, harassment, and misinformation

We do not publish content that promotes hatred or violence against any group, that personally harasses any individual, or that we know to be false. We aim to push back against misinformation in our subject area, including misinformation that originates with industry insiders or with governments.
