ENS and Web3 Domains Explained: Do You Need One?

Cryptocurrency addresses are famously unfriendly — long strings of random characters that are easy to mistype and impossible to remember. Web3 naming systems like the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) aim to fix this, letting you replace a 42-character Ethereum address with something like yourname.eth.

What ENS actually is

Should you get an ENS name?

It depends on what you do on-chain.

Worth it if: you frequently receive crypto from others, you are active in DeFi or NFTs and want a portable identity, or you want a memorable name to share publicly for donations or payments. The cost is modest and the convenience is real.
